The many animal shelters throughout the country are testament to the fact that people do not always responsibly care for their pets. Even so, it is better to bring a pet to a shelter than abandon it on the streets to fend for itself. Luckily for one little puppy, when this happened to her, a good Samaritan was on the scene to rescue her.
California UPS driver Jason Harcrow was having a normal day of package delivery when something unusual happened. Just up ahead of him, a vehicle stopped and put a small dog out on the road.
Harcrow knew he had to act quickly. He was unable to identify the license plate of the car that dropped the dog, but he got out of his truck and grabbed the dog before she was hit by a car.
Harcrow put the dog in his truck and kept her safe until he could get her to the Stanislaus County Animal Shelter where she awaits adoption.
He is receiving kudos for his quick actions and compassionate response all over social media and from his employers as well. A UPS supervisor said that they were very proud of him. Too often, there seems to be only bad news about how people treat one another, but this story about a UPS driver and a little pup shows that there is a lot of good in the world as well.
