Policewoman Holds Starving Baby – Breastfeeds Her to Save Baby’s Life

This is an incredible tale that takes place in La Marina, Colombia in a forest settlement. A female police officer by the name of Luisa Fernanda Urrea became a heroine after performing a rather unique and selfless act.

Officer Urrea came across a newborn abandoned baby girl starving to death. She was brought on an emergency call there, by locals who had discovered the precious infant alone in the undergrowth of the rural community. The baby had been left there, still with its umbilical cord attached.

The young officer was a new mother with her own baby at home, and she understood that the infant was in dire straits, having survived with zero nourishment. The tiny infant girl was also in danger of hypothermia. She immediately called emergency response for help but then sprung into action.

Officer Urrea decided without hesitation, that she would feed the baby milk from her breast, until paramedics arrived. Without the milk, she believed the infant would have perished soon thereafter.

Officer Urrea later told the media that she was a new mother and understood what the baby badly needed.

“I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances,” she remarked.

Meantime, the baby girl survived the ordeal and came away with a few lacerations and hypothermia. Hospital officials say she is now in good health and being cared for by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare. Trying to find the little one an adoptive family is next on the list for this Baby Jane Doe.

The biological mother of the abandoned infant has not been found, and if and when Colombian police track her down, she could face attempted murder charges.

All in all, it was a fascinating story, and thanks to local Edinora Jimenez and Officer Urrea, Baby Jane Doe has an excellent chance at a new life. Ms. Jimenez initially made the call to police, when she heard and saw what appeared to be a cat crying at first. She was out picking oranges, when she discovered that was no cat but a precious crying infant abandoned in the woods.

Officer Urrea is proud she provided nourishment and maternal compassion to the infant and was able to make a difference.
