During a military memorial at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, a crowd started laughing and talking among themselves. This was very disrespectful considering guests are expected to remain silent and respectful while visiting the tomb and the tomb is home to deceased American soldiers that weren’t identified after their deaths.
In response to the rude crowd, a soldier at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier announced assertively with his rifle held in front of him, “It is requested that everyone maintains a level of silence and respect.” Fortunately, the situation didn’t have to escalate any further than that because the group of people immediately fell silent.
The incident was filmed by another person at the cemetery who uploaded it on YouTube, where it has received over 11 million views. Most of the comments on the video praised the soldier for how well he handled the situation and agreed that people should show respect in places like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
