Many people think of the Wicked Witch when they think f the villain of “The Wizard of Oz.” However, Glinda was really the villain of the movie. There are a few reasons as to why Glinda is thought to be the bad witch. Dorothy’s house is dropped on the Good Witch of the East. A party featuring little people breaks out after Glinda asks Dorothy if she is a good or a bad witch.
When the green witch confronts Glinda, Glinda decides to taunt her about her sister, insisting that someone should drop a house on her as well. Glinda then gives the ruby slippers to Dorothy instead of to the deceased witch’s sister. Glinda desecrates the body of the Good Witch as you can see that her toes shrivel away while the house is still on top of her.
Before Dorothy leaves for the Emerald City, Glinda tries to blame Dorothy for making the green witch mad. Then, Glinda tells Dorothy to go find a wizard to get help to go back home. She seems to want to be rid of her in any way possible.
Glinda could have just told Dorothy that all she had to do was click her heels together to go home, but she let her go on a long adventure, dealing with flying monkeys and a mean witch along the way.
