Grand Forks, North Dakota – Professor Jack Russell Weinstein of the University of North Dakota is decidedly pro-gun control and is offended at the sight of anyone carrying a firearm out in the open. Many states are passing open-carry laws that allow people to carry their weapons in plain sight.
Such laws are a logical extension of the Supreme Court decision affirming that the right to bear arms was decidedly written for citizens and not police & military alone as the political Left would have us believe. His solution is to have everyone in the venue abruptly leave and not pay at the sight of a person carrying a firearm in the open.
If the venue is a grocery store, patrons are to leave their shopping carts in the aisles and promptly exit. In a restaurant, patrons are to leave the food on the table and exit without paying. The same would hold true in any venue. Everyone is to leave.
In Prof. Weinstein’s vision, businesses would be crippled by the sudden exodus of people that they would press for changes to open carry laws and start what he believes is a much needed cycle of incremental gun control. There is a problem though with people leaving a restaurant or any venue where they have taken goods and not paid: it’s against the law. His answer to that is citizens are to explain to police that they were in fear of their lives.
There is one caveat with his approach. It presumes that everyone is pro-gun control which they are not. Many people have no problem with a person carrying a gun in public.
