The Unites States Navy is the branch of the armed forces that protects our waters. It also happens to be the most understaffed. Of the seven-percent of all Americans serving our country, less than two-percent are in the Navy. In an effort to spark more interest, the Navy travels around the country with the United States Navy Band hoping to inspire others into joining this highly regarded institution. The Navy Band also brings their music abroad, not just to entertain but to maintain positive relations with our allies.

The 11 traveling Navy Bands charm audiences around the globe 6,500 times each year. During one such performance in 2014, the Navy Band, featuring the Sea Chanters, brought the crowd to their feet during the U.S. Navy Memorial.

Accompanied by the Navy Band, Chief Musician’s Michael H. Belinkie and Adam C. Tyler, along with First Class Michael A. Webb, First Class William Edwards III and First Class Benjamin L. Bransford belted out classics from the Broadway hit “Jersey Boys.” Some would have thought Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons themselves were on stage singing.

The band sang a medley of memorable tunes. Those audience members who remembered the words sang along while the younger crowd hearing the songs for the first time could not help but bop to the music. It was a special day to celebrate the Navy and the United States.

By touring the country and performing their songs, the Navy Band is confident that they will not only highlight the brave men and women that serve the naval forces but people will also see an incredible amount of talent and fortitude.
