Most people enjoy animals. They care for them no matter what size they are, and they are willing to help animals that are in need. Sometimes, it’s the animals that have been domesticated that receive the worst treatment. These are animals that rely on the people who care for them for food, a place to live and attention.
The horse is a beautiful animal, but it is also one of the most mistreated. People think that they can work the large animals until they are unable to go any farther. They pull carriages, carry people on their backs and often pull loads that are too heavy. Flora is a horse that has been neglected, and she has been seen on the streets of New York City pulling carriages of people as they view the sights of the city.
Someone recently took pictures of Flora and the conditions that she is in on a daily basis. Some believe that carriage rides should be done away with in cities because the horses are under so much strain on a daily basis. When the lives of the animals that are pulling the carriages are at stake, then it should be that much more evident that something is wrong.
One picture shows the image of a horse on the ground in the middle of the street. Her owner played it off as though the horse was just tired and taking a nap. Rescuers were finally able to save the horse and take her to a place where she is free to roam without the daily stress of pulling loads that she can’t handle.
