Lou Burns a proud mother of three, began to breastfeed her most recent addition to her family, when suddenly a waiter ran over to her, and requested that she cover the baby with a shroud. Lou Burns was previously unable to breastfeed her older children.
Now, finally cleared by doctors, she is then humiliated for being a mother. Lou Burns was devastated as customers and staff of the restaurant looked on. A senior manager asked Ms. Burns to cover up, as not to offend anyone. Lou Burns then burst into tears, and fumed in anger.
She was utterly shocked at the situation. She then followed the request of the hotel staff. Pictures of Lou Burns and her covered baby serviced on twitter. This sent an outrage through the community. Hundreds of breastfeeding women stood protest a day later at the Claridge’s Hotel in London.
The prestigious hotel claims that they welcome breastfeeding mothers, but hotel management would like for the mothers to be a little discreet about the matter. Discretion was not needed as Ms. Burn’s flesh was not even visible. A protest followed shortly thereafter.
Hundreds of mothers breastfeeding their babies, stood firm at the Claridge’s Hotel. The protesting of the women, meant a lot to Ms. Burns. She said she would never be able to return to that place, but the support has helped her. It’s a shame things like this still happen in our beautiful world.
