Have you ever felt that warm pang of affection in the deep in your chest that accompanies a budding new love? I’m talkoing about butterflies in your stomach when you look at that special someone. Even if you haven’t experienced this for yourself, more than likely someone you know has gone through those first few clumsy stages of infatuation, and it might even be the little furry friend sitting at your feet.
If so, you’d be like the owners of these two lovebirds in this heartwarming story. They discovered their pets were involved in something of an affair, and when the fuzzy-couple was inadvertently separated, their owners responded just as well as anyone could. Wouldn’t it be nice to find the love of your life right next door?
That’s exactly what happened to this dog, when the owner discovered that the four-legged friend had developed something of a crush on the neighbor’s cat, who often sat in a window visible from his home. The dog would sit with his paws resting up on the window frame and stare longingly through the glass, directly toward his feline sweetheart for as long as the cat would rest in the opposite window. The dog’s owner even noticed the cat staring back at his pet with equal interest on many occasions.
One day, after months of this close-yet-long-distance relationship, the window where the cat would sit was no longer visible, but instead it held several plants that blocked the view. The dog seemed heartbroken. So the owner took action in an attempt to resurrect her dog’s happiness: she decided to write a polite note to the cat’s owner, requesting that the plants be moved to allow their pets to enjoy each other’s visual company once more. This is what the note said:
“Dear Neighbor, This is going to seem ridiculous, but I thought you should know that my dog (who lives next door with me) is madly in love with your cat… and has been for probably 6 months! Three times a day he puts his paws on our railing to look at him/her in your windowsill. Now that you have potted plants there, he is heartbroken… but keeps looking for your cat every time. Maybe your plants could switch to a different window?? From, Your neighbor and her adoring dog!”
This simple request might seem a little strange to some, if not profoundly absurd, but the cat’s owner responded beautifully with a note of his own, hung in the once again empty window where the cat could continue to sit throughout the day. The plants were moved right away, and the cat sat peacefully beneath a small sign that read only this:
“For True Love!”
A story like this goes to show that good people will go out of their way to make room for true love to thrive, even in the most unlikely of places. This furry couple proves that love can and will succeed over all else in this world.
