Residents of a St. Paul neighborhood got a rather unusual wake up one morning after a pair of bald eagles ended up screeching and fighting in a tree. Seeing an eagle isn’t that uncommon in this part of Minnesota, but they usually just fly over the neighborhoods without giving people the chance to see them up close.
According to information from local news sources, the two eagles looked like they somehow got stuck in a tree together. They didn’t seem to happy and soon started fighting each other. The shrieking caught the attention of local residents who called on the authorities to get the eagles out of the tree.
The Department of Natural Resources and the South Metro Fire Department showed up and attempted to separate the birds in order to help them get out of the tree. But just as they got close, the birds managed to free themselves and flew off into the sky. None of the two birds appeared injured. Wildlife experts have stated that just like many other animals, male bald eagles will often fight each other over territory. In some cases, the fights may last for several hours.
Several residents took photos of the two eagles tangled up in a tree. A video that was picked up by many news outlets shows the flying off just as they are being approached by the fire department’s ladder.
