Fox News is under fire again for irresponsible journalism. After the recent terrorist attacks at the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a local deli, Fox News aired nothing but coverage on the attacks and speculations as to why it happened.
Fox News took the position of anti-Muslim fear-mongering and suggested that Paris had been attacked because of their lack of guns or even a possible invasion of radical Muslims that the Parisian government did nothing about because of their tolerance. Fox News even claimed that there were “no-go” areas of Paris where one would find Muslims donning their supportive Osama Bin Laden t-shirts.
Not only are the French upset by these speculations and accusations but Americans are disgusted as well. After viewing Fox New’s coverage Paris’ mayor Anne Hidalgo is understandably upset over the blatant lies being told by the network.
During an interview with CNN, Mayor Hidalgo made it clear that she plans on suing Fox News to stop them from spreading any more lies or made-up coverage. In the interview Mayor Hidalgo goes on to emphasize the importance of journalists putting the truth out there before anything else. If Mayor Hidalgo is successful in suing Fox News they may think twice next time before airing propaganda and slander during another tragedy.
