A 78 your old woman in Bethany, Oklahoma dealt with something horrible recently. Her husband of 60 years had just passed away two weeks earlier when she was visiting his grave, overcome with grief. This was already a horrible situation, but to make it even worse, a mugger accosted her and took her purse, as well as $700.
This is absolutely disgusting to think about, because a cemetery is supposed to be a place where people can mourn their loved ones in peace. They are already going through a lot without having to deal with criminals stealing from them and traumatizing them further.
However, then something happened that will restore a lot of people’s faith in humanity. The 15 year old son of the mother found out about what had happened. His father had actually given him $250 recently for a band trip that he really wanted to take. However, this boy asked to meet the older woman in a church parking lot. He apologized to her for his dad’s actions, because he felt that she deserved an apology, and if he did not give it, it was likely that no one would. In addition, he offered her the $250 that his father had given him.
As if this was not already a nice enough gesture, she accepted the money, and said that she was choosing to spend it by giving it back to the boy so that he could take his band trip. What a heartwarming and touching story.
