While on vacation in the Philippines, Lalaine Young and her boyfriend Chris were walking to their hotel when they caught sight of children sleeping nearby on the sidewalk. Moved by the moment, Chris asked Lalaine to stay with their things while he ran to the store to buy them food. When he emerged, Chris told her that he was going to go deliver the food and he’d be right back. He walked across the street and handed over what he’d just purchased for them.
Lalaine was so proud of her boyfriend that she filmed the whole moment and shared it with the internet. The unedited YouTube video is less than two minutes long and is a little shaky and blurry.
However, Chris is clearly seen walking over to the children, approaching them, and handing out the food. What’s said can’t be heard from that far away. He walks away calmly and heads back her way. That’s when the video ends.
The names and the stories of the children aren’t clear, but they aren’t the only children living on the street in the Philippines. In fact, 1-3% of children in large Philippine cities live outside. These street children are found in situations similar to the one Chris and Lalaine found these children in.
