The great men and women that serve our country often perform tasks that we only see or hear about in movies. Unfortunately, many of these life changing experiences tear down the foundation of the human spirit and it’s hard to recover from.
Fortunately, this holiday season was a little bit different when 3 year old Kensley Penney made a wish that ultimately came true right in time for Christmas! Little Kensley, when asked by her grandmother, said all she wanted from Santa Clause this year was “a new truck and my daddy.” Her daddy is Sgt. Scott Penney of the U.S. Army who has been stationed over seas in Afghanistan since March.
Kensely often sang the lyrics “Santa baby, bring daddy home to me!” When the cute little girl was asked how much she missed daddy could only open her arms as wide as they would go.
People were saddened thinking of a little girl torn from her father during the holiday season and didn’t know how to answer the request. With a little holiday magic from the Pentagon and Santa’s helpers, her father was able to grant that wish for his precious little daughter. As Kensley was on Santa’s lap all she could ask for were her two wishes “a truck and my daddy.”
Just as she’s about to hop off Santa’s lap, a familiar voice rings out… it’s her father! With tears in her little eyes all she could say was “Hi daddy! Hi daddy! I missed you!”
