Colorado resident Anson Lemmer recently started a new job as a pizza delivery man. The pizza place the teen works at, Uncle Pizza, has been voted the best in town many times, and has been around for over a decade. But just two weeks into the job, Anson’s delivery route had an unexpected turn of events.
Anson went to deliver a recently-ordered pizza to a customer, but when he arrived the man was flat on his back, totally unconscious. Three other people were hovering over him, but it was Anson who quickly jumped into action and helped the man. He took control of the situation and gave the man CPR until paramedics arrived.
“It’s not a situation that I’ve ever been in before, but I felt prepared for it,” Anson stated. He’d taken a CPR course from the Red Cross years before, and it certainly came in helpful that day!
Back at the pizza joint, coworkers merely assumed Anson had lost his way when he didn’t return on schedule. When they learned what had really kept Anson from returning they were stunned.
The teen took the incident in stride, however, and said, ““I don’t think it was anything heroic that I did. It was just something that I had to do.”
