Police and rescue teams have continued their search for survivors of the recent landslide that devastated Colombia this past Monday. While the search has not been as productive as authorities had hoped, there have been some truly remarkable and inspirational moments. One of those moments occurred after a Colombian police officer suddenly noticed a distressed dog that had been swept up in the river’s tumultuous current.
The scene began to unfold as a team of officers was combing the edge of a riverbank in Salgar, Colombia. Upon noticing that a helpless dog had been caught up in the river’s current, the officer raced down the bank of the river in an effort to keep an eye on the dog.
The dog was rapidly being swept away by the force of the water and could barely keep his head above water. Knowing that the dog would likely drown unless immediate action was taken, the officer bravely risked his own life by jumping into the river in an effort to save the dog.
