Everyone gets the hiccups at some time or another, and pretty much everyone can agree that they are incredibly annoying. They are not necessarily painful, but they can be irritating to deal with, especially when one has to deal with them for a prolonged period of time.
Imagine then, how irritating they would be for a dog, who does not understand what is going on and does not know how to get rid of them. People have all sorts of methods that can work, such as holding sugar on their tongues and letting it dissolve down their throats, holding their breath for a certain period of time, or drinking cold water. Dogs just don’t know what is going on when they are dealing with the hiccups.
Buck is an eight week old Heeler puppy who experienced this frustration when he had the hiccups. Since he had never heard of any methods to get rid of hiccups and probably wouldn’t understand them even if he had, he came up with his own solution. He decided to bark at the hiccups to make them go away. This video is absolutely adorable, and one can’t help but find it endearing when this puppy is trying to bark his hiccups away.
Matthew Kennelly, Buck’s owner, put the video on YouTube, along with this caption: “What are these things inside me!? I will scare them away!” Hopefully, Buck did end up scaring away those pesky hiccups and does not have to deal with them anymore.
