Old Man Struggles To Walk His Dogs. Watch What His Neighbors Do Outside His House

In 2014, an middle-aged man who was in retirement named Charlie was walking in his Texas community every day to get fresh air and exercise. But there was something Charlie’s neighbors noticed quite quickly: Charlie was struggling to walk his two Yorkshire terriers.

He just couldn’t keep up with him because he was diagnosed with with leukemia. Throughout his life, Charlie was a biker and very healthy. But after his diagnosis, Charlie struggled to get exercise. Walking his terriers was the only way he could try — and the only way he could be social and talk to the neighbors.

So the neighbors pitched in to help Charlie. One neighbor left a chair for him to rest in her yard with a sign that said “Chairs for Charlie.” Soon, other neighbors followed suit, and there were dozens of chairs in yards throughout the neighborhood so Charlie could rest when he needed to.

Charlie’s wife, Sandra, said the chairs symbolize “the love the neighbors have for us,” and that she and Charlie were beyond touched to see the chairs lining the neighborhood. Soon Charlie passed away at only 64 years old, and neighbors filled those empty chairs with flowers as a memorial. Sandra was overwhelmed once again with the outpouring of love from this tight Texas community who went above and beyond to show her and her husband so much love throughout the years.
