Do you think you have a cool job title? How do you think others would react if it happened to be “official White House photographer”?
Pete Souza has followed President Barack Obama for the past 8 years documenting almost everything the President has gone through. The photographs are available on the official White House Flickr page, but can also be seen on various news stories.
Souza is not new to photographing presidents. During the 2 term presidency of Ronald Reagan, Souza was the official photographer. Furthermore, Souza took pictures of Obama before he became a household name! While walking the streets of Red Square, Souza noticed Obama. This moment became the impetus to Souza’s current positioning as the current official White House photographer.
In a recent BBC interview, Souza recalled the past 8 years and the effect it has had on him. He mentions how these events have churned out upwards of 2 million photographs in only 8 years. That is a lot of editing!
Over the years, the public has been able to see many of the different photos captured by Souza. Many famous photos include, President Barack Obama Kissing First Lady Michelle Obama For The “Kiss Cam” as well as the Obama family portait in the Oval Office.
