Trump Shill Cites Japanese Internment Camps As “Precedent” For New Muslim Registry

Pro-Trump PAC Spokesperson and former NAVY Seal Carl Higbe appeared on the Kelly File tonight, and called one of the worst atrocities in American history “precedent”. What he was referring to are Japanese internment camps, first implemented during World War 2, when nationwide fear of spies led to the US government detaining Japanese Americans. Such a precedent would work hand-in-hand with President Trump’s plans to detain and monitor the activities of Muslim Americans.

“Come on. You’re not proposing we go back to the days of internment camps, I hope. You know better than to suggest that. That’s the kind of stuff that gets people scared,” said Host Megyn Kelly, visibly uncomfortable with the comment made by Higbie. “I’m just saying there is precedent for it, and I’m not saying I agree with it, but…” replied Higbie, prior to being interrupted by Kelly saying “You can’t be citing Japanese internment camps as a precedent for anything the President-elect is planning to do.”

During World War 2, the US government imprisoned and relocated over 120,000 people, many of whom were American citizens. This act is taught academically as one of the worst things the United States has ever done in modern history.

These comments are certainly troubling, considering the fact that Carl Higbie is not only a Spokesperson for the Trump PAC, but a decorated soldier as well. When people of such high status go on national television to promote the use of interment camps for Muslim American citizens, viewers are going to listen. Most people will disagree and be disgusted, but there will always be the silent few who agree – and this can have a devastating effect on the United States in the long term. The implications of allowing such a person to speak for, or represent the President-elect are staggering.
