When people see someone who looks homeless, they sometimes try to avoid that person instead of trying to help. It could be a person who lives in a car or who is sitting on a sidewalk with nowhere to go unless a stranger helps.
One man was at Starbucks, waiting to see if someone would lend a helping hand. He had a bookbag with him and his dog. A customer in the store came along and had a rather emotional encounter with the man. This customer took the few minutes needed in order to talk to the homeless man in order to find out what had happened and what he really needed in order to get off his feet.
When the homeless man started talking, the customer realized that he was just like everyone else, but he had fallen on hard times and needed someone to guide him in the right direction. While the homeless man was in the store, no one wanted to talk to him except for this customer as the man smelled and looked as though he hadn’t had a bath in a few days. This man is a veteran.
He told the customer that it didn’t seem like anyone performed the actions of Christ anymore by helping others. The customer bought a meal for the man and even gave him a pair of new shoes and socks. He showed that there are still people in the world who care.
