This Officer Saw Them Sitting in the Jail’s Lobby For Hours, And Knew Something Wasn’t Right

Sitting in a jail lobby usually means that you are meeting with someone who can get a friend or family member out of jail or that you are there to visit someone. A deputy with the Butler County Sherriff’s Department saw something that was out of the ordinary when he arrived for his shift at the jail one day.

There was a woman with two children sitting in the chairs. Visiting hours started at nine that morning, so the deputy thought they were there to see someone. After a short time, the deputy saw the family still in the lobby.

The children were sleeping, so he asked the woman if there was anything he could do to help them. The woman told the deputy that they had been evicted that morning, and they had nowhere to go for the day. Moved by this, the deputy tried to call shelters but they were all full.

Unwilling to give up on the family he found a hotel in the area where they could stay for an extended time, and he prepaid for 10 days. The deputy used money from his own wallet so that the family would have somewhere to sleep and call home until the woman could find another solution. He also took the family to Wal-Mart so that they could get clothes, shoes and food.
