With the state of fear in America and the hate filled rhetoric of our politicians, muslim families are facing a lot of discrimination. Judgment and mistrust follow many of these innocent muslim-americans around like a plague. One Muslim family recently went to a restaurant in Georgia for their Christmas meal.
The father was hesitant at first, but wanted to make sure his family got a good meal for the holiday. The women in the family had their traditional hijabs on, so restaurant patrons knew that they were of a different nationality and religion. As they ordered their food, the father was aware that others were staring at them, and the family felt uncomfortable. But when the meal arrived, and the father asked for the check, he was surprised at what was written on the receipt.
Someone had paid for the family’s entire meal and wished them a Merry Christmas. The person also stated that the man had a beautiful family and when the father left, he made comments on social media that there are still good people in the world and that the act made his family’s day.
He wants others to understand about the generosity that others can exhibit, even to those who have a bad reputation throughout the world. This is the kind of open mindedness and humanity that the holidays should bring out in people.
