There is a movement within the real estate market these days. For a while homes were getting larger and larger and ever more extravagant… but that isn’t really practical, many have discovered. Now, a lot of people in the market for new houses are looking for smaller residences. The smaller the house the smaller the electricity bill, and the smaller the electricity bill and construction costs. But some people are taking this “smaller is better” trend to the extreme.
This house is only 160 square feet and despite its extremely reduced size, it is surprisingly comfortable and startlingly spacious on the inside.
The home can sleep about four people and includes a large roof on the top of the home with benches so that you can sit and enjoy a good book or spend time with friends and family. Recessed lighting is featured in the home as well as plenty of storage hidden within the walls. There is a kitchen with a refrigerator and small stove. Bunk beds are in one area of the home while a larger bed is in another area, hidden in the wall.
Small houses like these can be built of all kinds of different materials. Some are made from bricks while others can be made of stacked tires. Many of these homes are made of shipping containers as they are easy to use, provide more than enough shelter and can be transported easily via shipping vessels. And on top of all that, it only costs a few thousand dollars to build a home out of those containers.
So when you are on the housing market think small – maybe it would better fit your budget and your lifestyle. And it is definitely better for the environment.
Less is more these days. Could you ever live in a shipping container? It doesn’t look so bad to me…
