The video features 106 year old Virginia McLaurin meeting the president and the first lady for the very first time. Ms. McLaurin had dreamed of seeing the inside of the White House and meeting the president for such a long time, but she never imagined that she would be given the opportunity.
As of yesterday her dream finally came true, and she is just bursting with excitement. The video only lasts for a minute and a half, but in that time the trio enjoys a few laughs and shares a dance that is nothing short of adorable. Mrs. Obama even spends a moment admiring Ms. McLaurin’s manicure. They also discuss the importance of Black History Month, which is the reason why Ms. McLaurin says she was able to meet them. Her visit to the White House was in honor and celebration of Black History Month.
Ms. McLaurin’s endearing personality is so full of enthusiasm and charm that she cannot help but capture the hearts of the Obamas and the millions of other people worldwide who have watched this video. Ms. McLaurin may have been incredibly delighted to meet the president and his wife, but they ended up enjoying her presence just as much as she enjoyed theirs.
