Divorce rates in the U.S. have been on the rise for years. Most states do not require marriage counseling before applying for a marriage license. Most states don’t require an extended waiting period after applying a marriage license for the ceremony to take place, in case someone gets cold feet. Even celebrities, who seem to have it all, can’t always get marriages to work – Just look at Britney Spears’ 55 hours of marriage to Jason Allen Alexander!
So what happened when one judge asked a woman why she wanted a divorce?
The judge began asking the typical questions and her responses left nothing to the imagination!
“What are your grounds for divorce?” the judge asked.
“Oh, about four acres. There’s a nice little house and even a stream that runs through!”
“No,” the judge clarified. “I need to know, what is your foundation for this case?”
“Well, it’s brick and mortar, of course!” she replied.
The judge shook his head. It didn’t take him long to grow frustrated.
“Let me better explain,” he told the woman. “I need to know what your relations are like.”
“Well, my husband’s parents live in the city. I have an aunt that lives here as well.”
“Does your husband ever beat you up? Has there been infidelity in your marriage?”
“Well, usually I’m up before he is,” she replied. “Sometimes he’s up and moving before I am. A couple times of month at least. As for the infidelity, our children both have stereos, so the answer is yes.”
How the judge kept his composure, the world may never know.
When he finally broke down and simply asked the woman why she wanted a divorce, her reply was as funny as it was predictable.
“My husband says he can’t communicate with me.”
