Noelle, an abandoned and battered dog carelessly dumped at a high-kill shelter in Canada, was lucky enough to be adopted last December by the Canadian animal rescue group K9 Crusaders. But Noelle was a dog suffering from much more than malnutrition. She was suffering the heartbreak of having recently given birth to a litter of puppies who had been cruelly taken away from her. Now this once beautiful dog, reduced to skin and bones, felt she had nothing to live for.
That’s when a team of dedicated K9 Crusaders decided to launch “Operation Christmas Wish.” They were determined to track down every one of Noelle’s young puppies so that mother and youngsters could be reunited. Although it seemed like an impossible task, K9 Crusaders felt it was worth every minute of their time to use their best detective skills to find out what happened to Noelle’s litter of pups.
The same luck that had helped to rescue Noelle from certain death was also riding with the group when someone noticed a suspicious ad on a local buy and sell site offering puppies for sale, claiming that the mother had died shortly after giving birth. Attached to the ad, which claimed to only want the best for the puppies, was a photo of the litter with their mother, and the K9 Crusaders clearly could see that the pictured dog was Noelle.
The group skillfully negotiated a mass purchase of the 8 remaining puppies from the individual who had placed the ad, who was plainly also the heartless individual who had dumped her at the shelter only days before, interested only in the money they would make from selling her litter. Being reunited with 8 of the 9 puppies in her litter was the best medication for her heart that Noelle could have received. Mother and puppies are doing fine and each is beginning to find a forever family.
