Part of the responsibility of owning a pet is making certain that the animal gets all of the medical attention necessary to stay healthy. This means taking the pet in for vaccinations and other shots when necessary. It also means bringing in your pet whenever there seems to be some type of medical problem. Proper care allows your pet to live a long and happy life hopefully free from pain and disease.
The one problem with fulfilling this responsibility is that it is not always easy to transport your pet to a veterinarian. The trip is often an ordeal for many people right up until the moment everything is over and the pet returns home. It is no secret that pets dislike going to veterinarians as much as many people hate going to the dentist. Pets seem to understand when it is time to take a ride to the veterinarian because many owners will go through the same basic routine each time. The pet learns that routine and starts to adapt by resisting, hiding or running away. Older pets often become masters at evading a cage, putting on a leash or getting into a car.
A recent series of pictures illustrates this point perfectly. The Internet is notorious for highlighting the antics of cats. A series of 17 photographs was recently released showing the lengths that cats would go to in order to avoid seeing the veterinarian. The photos were all taken inside various veterinarians’ offices at different times and involving different cats. Some are just for fun while others show how clever a cat can be when trying to avoid something. A few of the pictures show cats pressing themselves into corners and tight spaces. There is a cat hiding behind the fixture of a sink. Another shot shows a cat attempting to hide in a sink with just the eyes and ears above the edge. These hiding methods ultimately proved ineffective. That did not stop the cats from trying.
Some other pictures show that cats will think and act fast when confronted with a possible examination from a veterinarian. One photo shows a cat that has found the opening in a cabinet face intended to receive trash. The cat appears to have leapt up to the opening. The cat was trying to crawl inside when the picture was taken. The cat likely thought about hiding out behind the counters in darkness until everything was safe. Another cat took a simpler route towards avoiding the veterinarian. The cat in this photograph seems to have climbed inside of a small trash bin in the office. The cat is close to the same color as the bin. It is actually a good hiding place since the cat is barely visible.
The problem is that the cat has bright eyes that can clearly be seen. Two of the photos show cats that were smart enough to be able to open the drawers in the veterinary office despite them not having handles. The cats climbed inside the drawers and waited there silently hoping to bypass the examination. The cats were caught, however, since the drawers did not close fully after they climbed inside. The most effect cat used camouflage to hide in plain sight. This cat had black fur. The cat jumped up onto the counter in the office. The cat then walked to a corner and laid down low. The bottom part of the backsplash above the counter was also pitch black. The photo shows the cat relaxing in the dark region. You cannot even see the cat unless you look closely. These pictures show what a difficult job some veterinarians have when trying to take care of the pets people love. It is important to remember that veterinarians serve an important purpose. Despite hiding, hissing and scratching, veterinarians work hard to keep pets healthy.
