Sometimes, when people become frustrated with what seems to be stubbornness in pets, they don’t consider that there could be other factors at play. For instance, a woman and her husband recently adopted a beautiful golden retriever named Stanley.
But it immediately became obvious that there was something different about Stanley. While most dogs will come when called, Stanley did not. He also developed a strange habit of gathering together his toys and other items in the house. When he was not able to get all of the items together in one spot, he would become upset.
This was a cause for concern for Stanley’s new owners, who realized that his behavior was quite different from most dogs. After undergoing a battery of tests at the vet’s office, it became clear that Stanley was not experiencing hearing problems like his owners had suspected. They realized that Stanley most likely had special needs. Probably due to inbreeding, Stanley’s intelligence level registered as low.
Luckily, his family loves Stanley just the way he is. He is a wonderful dog in every way, getting along famously with all the other members of the household, including children and other pets. Stanley’s owners have taken his unique needs in stride, providing an excellent home for this one-of-a-kind dog.
