Jerry Sherman had a surprise for his mother, Toby, who had just turned 70 years old. He told her that he was going to take her out to lunch and that they should meet at the Mercedes dealership where he was getting his Audi serviced, but the truth was that he planned to surprise her with a new Mercedes as a gift for her hard work raising six children on her own after losing her husband.
He titled the video “I made my mother cry today.” On the video’s black title card though he has typed in white text “How to Make Your Mom Cry (It’s actually a happy cry).”
When Toby sees his car, she eagerly sits in it. He reminds her not to start it up since he doesn’t know if she remembers how to drive stick, but she then asks “Are you kidding me?” and explains how his father taught her to drive stick on a ‘58 Corvette.
Jerry then tricks Toby by saying that he was told that he might need a different car for winter and asks her to check out the one next to his Audi. Her first statement to him as she sees it is “I want this one” and he responds, “Doesn’t everyone.” She then expresses her love for this type of car by saying, “This is my car.” Jerry’s quick reply? “It is your car. Happy birthday.” She stares at him in shock and then starts crying in joy.
