She Uses A Sperm Donor To Get Pregnant. What Happens 12 Years Later? So Moving

Aminah Hart suffered through what every woman fears, the death of a child. To make it even more tragic, she lost not one, but two children. Her sons, Marlon and Louis both passed away as infants.

Both succumbed to a genetic disease called x-linked myotubular myopathy that they had inherited from their mother. Aminah was unaware she carried this gene until after death of her second son.

The heartbroken woman had always wanted nothing more than to be a mother. In both instances, her relationships with the fathers of her deceased children had ended after their child had died.

It is not uncommon for people to separate in these instances, as the partner is a constant reminder of what they have lost. At 42, Aminah still wished desperately for a child. She knew she was running out of time, and since she was not currently in a relationship, she did what many women do when faced with these circumstances.

In 2001, Aminah underwent insemination with the assistance of a sperm donor. She decided to take the chance that this child would be healthy. Miraculously, Leila was born nine months later, a perfectly healthy little girl. It may sound like the end of the story, but it was just the beginning.

After giving birth, Aminah’s mother encouraged her to contact the sperm donor. The man had stated on his donor application that he would be willing to meet the mother. In 2013 Aminah contacted Scott Anderson and they set up a time to meet. After the first meeting they began visiting regularly so he could spend time with his daughter. Several months later he and Aminah began dating. Today they are a happy family together and Aminah truly believes it was all a matter of fate.
