She Thought Her Own Daughter Was An Intruder. What This Responsible Gun Owner Did? Horrible

A Florida woman recently shot her 27 year-old daughter. The woman thought her daughter was an intruder. The woman, whose name is Sheryl Campbell, woke up at midnight after she heard someone moving around in their home. She fired one shot and discovered afterwards that she had shot her own daughter directly in the chest.

Campbell’s husband called 911 immediately. The daughter, whose name is Ashley Doby, was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital, and died shortly after being admitted. The stepfather was sound asleep when his wife shot his stepdaughter and at first, he thought his stepdaughter was having a problem with her pacemaker. He did not tell the 911 dispatcher that his stepdaughter had been shot in the chest when he called in the incident.

There have been many cases reported of similar incidents happening in Florida. In June 2015, a 16 year-old boy was shot by his brother after being mistaken for an intruder. Similarly, this boy was taken to the hospital and later died.

Gun violence has become an epidemic in the US, and not all fatal shootings are accidental like this one was. Many medical doctors have signed petitions urging lawmakers to admit this as a problem that needs to be investigated by the Center for Disease Control. Dr. Nina Agrawal is a pedestrian and has stated that gun violence is one of the leading causes of children dying.
