Annegret Raunigk, a German woman, gave birth to quadruplets, causing her name to be in headlines around the world. It wasn’t the fact that she had four children at once that gave her that attention, though. Nor was it due to the fact that she had thirteen more children before the additional four. No, her infamy came because she was 65-years-old when she gave birth to those four babies.
Due to her age, she became the world record holder of the oldest woman to give birth to quadruplets. Although they were forced to stay in the hospital for three months because of health problems, she was able to take them all home.
In order to get pregnant, she was forced to have the semen artificially inseminated. They were born 26 weeks early through Caesarian section. Despite that, all four babies are healthy and living with her and perhaps some of their other siblings.
Along with her own children she has seven grandchildren and says those young lives are what keep her young. Although she wouldn’t recommend others doing what she’s done, she says that she’s fit and able to raise the four new additions just as well as she raised the thirteen previous children.
