She Mixed Two Different Oils And Made THIS. I Guess I Won’t Be Buying It From A Store Again

The spring showers have passed and finally the summer sun has risen. If you’re out and about in these seasonal months, you’re going to need some protection to shield you from over exposure to the sun. Unfortunately, the sunscreens found on store shelves are often littered with toxic chemicals and endocrine disrupting ingredients that ironically help the growth of skin cancer.

That’s right: the very products we use to prevent skin cancer can actually end up bringing the disease on. Fortunately, there are natural alternatives to store brand sunscreens. The following recipe is a very simple option and while it won’t provide the same sun protection of some SPF 50 sunscreen, it will serve to protect you while you go about your daily activities.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp carrot seed oil
  • 2 tbsp shea butter

Directions:

First, put all the ingredients glass jar. Then, fill a pot with a few inches of water and put it on the stove over medium heat. Now, place the jar in the pot of water. The ingredients will begin to gradually melt. To speed along the process, occasionally stir the mixture. After it is completely melted, remove from the pot and stir it while it cools. Next, put it in a small jar for storage. And, voila, you now have your own all-natural skin protector. You can use it just as you would use store bought sunscreen. It’s protective properties begin to deteriorate after six months so it is best to use it before then.
