Garrett was born with Smith-Magenis syndrome. He is 16 and tries to live a normal life, but there are times when he becomes so fixated on something that he can’t think of anything else. When he saw a guitar at a local store, he wrote to the Easter Bunny to ask if he would bring it to him. His mother, Tina, wanted to help him with his request.
Tina put the letter in the mailbox for her son. She didn’t put a stamp on the letter. A small ticket was put on the front of the envelope. She was hoping that the postman wouldn’t throw the letter away since it didn’t have a stamp but instead toss it to the side. When Garrett checked the mail the next day, he found a surprise inside that shocked both him and his mother.
There was a card inside the mailbox telling Garrett that a letter from the Easter Bunny was on its way to his house. The woman who delivered the mail made it look like the Easter Bunny had signed the card and even left a bag of candy.
Although the woman doesn’t want to be revealed, she has become friends with Tina. The family is in the process of getting Garrett the guitar he wants, but until then, he sleeps with the card under his pillow at night.
