The world has become a very chaotic place to live in. Every single day, there are news stories about terrorism. We live in a world where acts of terrorism have already occurred such as the events of September 11, 2001.
The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism recently completed a survey to try and uncover why terrorism happens so that it can be stopped. The survey involved participation from many law enforcement groups and more than 170 government agencies across the country.
The survey shows that 86 percent of the respondents stated that they are more afraid of groups of individuals that are designated as “Sovereign Citizens”. These people have issues with the government and will often purchase significant amounts of guns, explosives and other items in which to carry out acts of terrorism against the government.
One such incident occurred with the bombing of the Oklahoma City bombing. Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh who were Americans bombed that building and killed many individuals including small children. Islamist extremist groups are often feared in the U.S. but government agencies fear people in their own backyard because the threat has gotten worse as time has gone by. One issue that has been on the forefront is the racial hatred towards President Barack Obama.
Before Obama even took office, there were widespread rumors that he would change the law and come for their guns. This never happened but still racism has increased the participation in such groups.
