Rush Limbaugh Warns of Federally Paid ‘Lesbian Farmers’ Might Invade Your Town

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is known for his out there theories, but his latest comments have left even his most diehard fans scratching their heads. In a segment last week of his Rush Limbaugh Show, Limbaugh posited that President Barack Obama was secretly giving money to train members of the lesbian community as farmers. The conservative pundit can be quoted as saying, “I’m like you; I never before in my life knew that lesbians wanted to be farmers. I never knew that lesbians wanted to get behind the horse and the plow and start burrowing. I never knew it.”

Limbaugh’s comments on the issue were inspired by the National LGBT Rural Summit, which took place in Iowa earlier this month. Many in the conservative media, including Limbaugh and the Washington Free Beacon, were shocked that the Office of Civil Rights of the United States Department of Agriculture hosted the event. Reporters for the Washington Free Beacon further warned their readers of “lesbian and transgender hillbillies” receiving farm subsidies from the federal government.

Limbaugh even suggested that hordes of homosexual farmers would soon invade the southern states in an effort to combat conservatism. Limbaugh warned his listeners, “They’re going after every geographic region that is known to be largely conservative. They never stop, folks. They are constantly on the march.”

While Limbaugh might be frightened of the possibility of a large population of lesbian farmers, the idea of all female farming communities is not new. In the 1970s, female farming communes, popularly known as womyn’s lands, were very popular throughout the United States, both in liberal and conservative areas of the country.
