A Reddit user @oddly_specific invented a genious alternative to the traditional litter box. Cat lovers know the downsides to the traditional litter box: it’s unsightly, gives off odor and there seems to be no good place to store it. This user got craft and repurposed a recycled dresser to house a litter box in plain sight, as well as block the smell.

She found an older dresser and started by removing the drawers. From there, she drew two half circles on either side of the old dresser in pencil and then used the lines to carve holes in both sides. She then added doors with hinges to either side of the frame, so that the doors could swing open when litter boxes needed changing.

Now, cats were able to enter and exit on either side and the hinged doors allowed easy access to pull the litter boxes out. She then brought the dresser back inside and added decorative trim and painted the two wooden panels that open, making them look similar to the other drawers.

Now that it looked just like a regular dresser, she placed two litter boxes inside the bottom two drawers and thus the building process was complete. Drawers or hinged doors could be opened to remove the litter box. The dresser also blocked smells from escaping. The dresser litter box project was a smash hit with the kitties!
