Marine Waits Behind A Closed Door, The He BURSTS On Stage – And His Sister Loses It

Lance Corporal Zachary Swain had been stationed at the United States Marine Corps’ San Diego base for over a year; a year that prevented him from seeing his mother, father or his five siblings. After being granted some leave, LCpl Swain decided to make the best of his time among family back in Evansville, Indiana.

Swain’s time off just happened to sync up with the graduation ceremony for his sister, Mirah Williams; Williams was set to receive a diploma to dignify the education she received as the Ross Medical Education Center. Swain had organized things with the ceremony staff so that he could be present as his sister came up to the stage to collect her degree. Mirah froze in mid-stride as she saw her brother clad in his full dress blues before running over to him to give him a big hug.

Swain will remain on leave in his hometown to spend time with his family until May 7th. Swain also decided to get married the day before his sister’s graduation ceremony.

The United States Marine Corps was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 10th, 1775. Swain’s rank of Lance Corporal places him between a private First Class and a Corporal; the USMC is the only military branch to use lance corporals. Ross Medical Education Center was founded in 1976 and offers health education in the veterinary, dental, pharmacy, medical billing, and medical assistance industries.
