A man had just boarded an airplane for a flight when a woman arrived and sat right next to him. She smiled politely at him and asked him how he was as she did so. The woman had no choice but to slowly move down into the seating area, pressing her rather large rear end into the small space. Once she sat down, she took up all of the room that was provided to her. She then tried to get cozy, putting her arm on the armrest that she shared with the man.
The man felt truly overwhelmed by her large size. He felt that her presence was taking over his seat. He felt barely visible to the rest of the plane, as well. He recoiled and looked out the window, totally unsure of what to do. She then looked again at the man and greeted him once more. She kept a tone that was pleasant and affable. Her visage was significantly higher than the man’s head, and that gave the man no choice but to gaze in her direction.
He then said “hi” to her in a manner that made his annoyance 100 percent apparent. After he did that, he looked out the plane window yet again. He quietly moped about the experience that he believed was ahead of him. He was dreading the idea of having to waste many unpleasant hours dealing with the massive size of this woman. She then used her fleshy arm to prod him. She introduced herself and said that her name was Laura. She also told him that she came from the United Kingdom. She asked him to tell her his nation of origin. She asked him if he hailed from Japan.
The man, visibly irritated, responded by simply saying “Malaysia.” She apologized for her mistake and asked the man to shake her hand. She said that since they had to be together for six hours, they should develop a friendly rapport. She asked him if he agreed with that assessment. The man shook her hand even though he was clearly unhappy about it. He remained totally quiet, as well. Laura began talking to the man, the entire time paying zero attention to the fact that he wasn’t exactly responding in a happy and welcoming manner. She enthusiastically chatted about her life. She chatted about her Hong Kong visit. She was visiting the metropolis to meet up with some pals. She told the man about the many items she was planning on purchasing her pupils. Laura was a boarding school teacher.
When Laura asked the man questions, he provided her with brief and curt responses. She didn’t seem at all bothered by his aloof and distant demeanor. When the man answered her, she would offer him pleasant and thankful remarks that showed that she was truly listening to him. She had a kind and thoughtful tone. She even managed to be kind when the flight attendants offered them food and beverages. She went out of her way to ensure that the man had sufficient room in his seat to get organized. She said that she didn’t want to overwhelm him with her large size. When she said that, she sounded 100 percent heartfelt, as well.
At that time, the man’s attitude toward Laura shifted entirely. He began to become fond of her. He realized she was a great person to engage in conversation. She knew a lot about science and philosophy and was really funny. When the conversation turned to her weight and health, she revealed that those things weren’t a concern to her. She said that she was an energetic person who lets nothing stop her. The man had an epiphany that Laura truly was a gorgeous individual.
