When a man takes a break from work, he doesn’t expect anything out of the ordinary to occur. Garrett Preston tried to quit smoking, and he recently started using a new trend to help him give up giving up cigarettes. He started using a vaporizer, as so many other people who want to quit smoking use, but something happened while he was on his break that he wasn’t prepared to experience:
The vaporizer ended up being dangerous in itself. Preston works at Dunkin’ Donuts and before he took his break, he made a sandwich to eat since he still had a few more hours to work. After he ate his sandwich, he felt something like a smoldering ember in one of his pockets.
There wasn’t a battery case on the back of the vaporizer and his car keys were in the same pocket. Preston believes that a spark was created between the two, and the vaporizer caught fire. His pants started burning, so he was forced to rip them off.
Preston had third-degree burns on his thigh and stomach. It took more than a month for the wounds to heal, there are other people who have reported that the battery packs on their vaporizers have exploded as well. So be careful out there smokers, you may be trying to make a healthy choice and catch fire in the process…
