Lifelong Republicans Thank President Obama for Obamacare: ‘You Saved My Life’

Obamacare has been a hot topic amongst those in the Republican party, especially with the election season heating up. Many establishment Republicans, in fact, have claimed that they would repeal Obamacare if they could.

However, some Republicans have found themselves in a strange position after the implementation of the policy. Brent Brown is a perfect example.

This staunch Wisconsin Republican voted against Obama during the past two elections, but his life has been completely transformed by the Affordable Care Act. As someone with a pre-existing condition, it was impossible for him to find a company who would insure him—until Obamacare kicked in. After signing up for the coverage on the government’s healthcare website, Brown was finally able to receive the lifesaving treatments that he needed.

In a heartfelt letter published on the White House website, Brown even goes as far as to credit President Obama with saving his life.

The White House thanked Brown for his letter and mentioned that tens of thousands of other Milwaukee residents had signed up for the coverage in 2016. Although the United States can seem quite politically divided at times, it would appear that many who railed against Obamacare are currently benefiting from it.
