Delicious treats as donuts and cinnamon rolls are often enjoyed apart. But, imagine a fusion of the two…. On one end, you get the glazed donut shell and within, a soft, gooey cinnamon roll. Sounds too good to be true? Well it’s not. One man in New York City has created this combination and shared it with the world via social media.
That man is Thiago Silva. He works as a pastry chef in the City, but his job usually entails making the standard dessert items. After a recent post on Instagram (using the account name “chef_thiago”), Silva showed that he has much more up his sleeve. And the world has responded.
His Instagram account shows various pictures of the new dessert item. But there’s a video that had left viewers drolling. You see a glazed donut, albeit without a donut hole. Silva, off-camera, begins gnawing away at the donut until the cinnamon roll inside is revealed. Silva left the following note below the video: “Looks like a regular donut, but inside it’s a cinnamon roll, w/ a cream cheese glaze.” A tag labeled the video as a test, while another called his invention “FoodPorn.”
Browing Silva’s account shows you all sorts of angles from the baking and eating process. Open donuts or a row sitting in the oven all tempt hungry patrons with an item they can’t find in stores. Or can they?
Silva’s invention is on the menu at a New York location. This is the Catch restaurant in Manhattan. Those lucky enough to order this cinnamon roll infused donut also get pumpkin ice cream, a sauce made from cranberry and pomegranate, and a custard made with rum. All specialty items in their own right, but nothing like the donut itself.
Silva told the world that his invention wasn’t easy to create. He went on record as saying the process is difficult and quite easy to screw up. This is why the Manhattan location should be a pilgrimage location for food enthusiasts. There aren’t many other items such as this.
However, the opposite of Silva’s invention is possible if you have a little experience in the kitchen, are outside of the New York area, and want to try something along these lines now. That is, there’s a recipe for cinnamon rolls infused with donuts.
