Howard Schulz: “Starbucks Promises to Hire 10,000 Refugees”

Howard Schulz is the CEO and chairman of Starbucks. He stated that Starbucks will be hiring 10,000 refugees within the next five years. Starbucks has locations in 75 countries. Howard decided to hire refugees after President Trump issued an order that banned travel from seven Muslim countries. He stated that he will focus on hiring people who have worked with the United States troops.

Howard also supports Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. This is a program that helps children of undocumented immigrants enroll in college, get driver’s licenses and secure jobs. President Obama signed an executive order that put this program in place back in 2012.

Howard stated that he is in the business to inspire people. He is just one of the many business owners who has discussed his concern about the travel ban. Jeff Imlet is the CEO of General Electric. He stated that he is gravely concerned about the travel.

Many of the employees live in a country that is on the travel ban list. Many other business owners have denounced the travel ban. Howard also stated that he is ready to support and help Mexican customers if they are affected by the immigration restrictions and tax changes.
