Morissa is a professional make-up artist and a Hooters waitress in Phoenix, Arizona. Recently she was pulling into the parking lot at Hooters for her regular shift, but her day was about to be anything but a regular one.
As she pulled into work she noticed a lonely bearded man sitting on the curb, looking lost and disheveled. Instead of walking by him like so many others have probably done, Morissa decided to stop and ask the man if he was okay. Just by her stopping and acknowledging him had him breaking down in tears. She learned his name was Rick and that he was starving. She helped him off the curb and told him that she worked at the restaurant. She offered to buy him a meal inside. The two linked arms together and Morissa brought him into the restaurant.
While he was enjoying his meal, the two began to chat a little more. She learned that Rick was originally from Ohio and had also been struck by a vehicle. He was unable to go to the hospital however, he had no form of identification and they would only turn him away. Despite having very little to his name, Rick did have one prized possession- a necklace with Phillipians 4:13 engraved on it.
After Rick finished eating, Morissa asked if the pair could pose for a photo together. He took a moment to comb his beard and posed with his new friend. He told her how she helped restore his faith in people. As he was leaving, he stopped and placed his treasured necklace in Morissa’s hands. The gesture of kindness that Rick showed her left her speechless.
