Palm Beach County School District will not have a comfortable ride over the next few years. They will be in courts defending themselves for refusing to teach evolution to children in school – 11-year-old Brandon Silver’s belief on the topic of evolution is firm and he will not take this lying down. He has opened a full debate to raise the attention of the courts and has the full support of his dad, Barry Silver, an Attorney. Together have filed an 18-page lawsuit that they plan to serve during a school board meeting.
Brandon claims that adaptations to the environment are real and evident and they are being taught it is not evolution. his father Barry argues that students are being deprived of learning from evolution because religious people refuse to accept science because it conflicts with their favorite fictitious story: the bible. Barry and Brandon view evolution as one excellent story.
The suit was filed on 24th November 2015 and coincided with the date in 1859 when Darwin published his incredible work on the orogin of species. The school has a window to discuss the matter with the Silvers in a round table to come to a logical agreement, failure in this stage will lead them to court.
Barry has conducted some due diligence and recognized that there are rogue schools and misleading textbooks that propagate only false and misleading information while purposefully omitting factual information. The vice degrades the quality of education for schools in Palm Beach County and public schools throughout Florida. “Students need to learn facts.” Barry insists.
Brandonfinds it extremely important to teach science in a science classroom. The omission of evolution is so grave that it attracted the attention of a fifth grader. It doesn’t make sense for thousands of schools in the U.S. to continue teaching science based on the theory of creation that relies on faith while unfavorably neglecting the Theory of Evolution which is based on “facts”.
The Theory of Evolution is just one of the many scientific theories available that can explain issues based on facts compared to Creationism. It is hard to comprehend how a religious lecture can advance scientific knowledge in any classroom. It is, even more, controversial as prayers in public schools were rendered unconstitutional more half a century ago. Facts have a way of defending themselves and eliminating mediocrity.
