A video was posted to YouTube on Saturday showing a woman marching through a Target store, loudly denouncing Target’s transgender bathroom policy while waving a Bible overhead. Among other declarations, she denounces Target for “opening their bathrooms to perverted men,” calls the company “hateful towards mothers … hateful towards children,” and asks customers, “Are you going to let the devil rape your children?” Some other customers and Target staff are visible in the video but they do not respond to the woman.
At the end of the video, as she leaves the store, the woman declares, “The judgment of God is coming on this nation — and Target!”
Neither the woman nor the location of the Target store are identified in the video, which appears to have been shot by someone following closely behind her. She claims to be a “mother of 12” and is followed by several adult men and children, possibly members of her family.
Target has come under fire in recent weeks because it has announced that it will not discriminate against transgender customers’ use of the bathroom. Although religious groups have mounted a boycott, Target CEO Brian Cornell emphasized on Friday that the company has no plans to change its policy.
