Dogs are amazing. They’re some of the most dedicated, affectionate and sweet animals on the entire planet. It’s no surprise that they’re some of the most popular pets around as well. The furry creatures aren’t only faithful companions, either. They’re also a total blast. Not many things can be more enjoyable and fun than the presence of a dog. People who own dogs are often extremely adamant about that!
Canines are just like human beings in that their lives aren’t perpetual, however, unfortunate as that may be. That’s a cruel reality that countless dog owners have to face every single day. Dogs fall ill. They age. These things can be devastating to all of the human beings in their lives, too. It can be extremely difficult for great pet owners to have to deal with the losses of their beloved animals. The mourning process can be lengthy, complicated and just plain unpleasant.
A man who owned a dog discovered one day that his pet was about to pass away. This naturally distressed him deeply. It compelled him to pen a poignant letter. This letter had a little twist, however. It was written from the viewpoint of the dying animal. Needless to say, the piece is heart-wrenching.
The letter spoke candidly about how the animal reacted when he started feeling unwell. The letter began with the “dog” writing about the fact that he was unable to get up from his sleep the day before. He said that his owner picked him up to remove him from his bed. The letter also mentioned that the dog was out of nowhere unable to maneuver his legs properly. His poor legs simply refused to respond normally. The letter mentioned that the ailing canine suffered from urinary incontinence. Although he knew very well that he wasn’t supposed to go number one on the floor, his body left him with absolutely no choice. His owner, of course, completely understood and wasn’t annoyed in the slightest.
The letter discussed an outdoor excursion that took place later that day. The dog was stressed out because he noticed that his paws were hitting the ground. That was not at all common for him. The dog yet again had no option but to relieve himself in the center of the parking area. He never used to do that before.
Things were different in this situation, however. He simply didn’t have any control over his body and what it did. The dog’s owner promptly took care of the mess. The dog was sheepish and then proceeded to continue walking. Although the dog kept on walking like a champ, his letter indicates that the process was anything but easy and smooth sailing for him. He suffered a lot during this walk. He felt dizzy soon after he started walking. He attempted to do a little climbing which resulted in him practically falling down. The poor dog simply had no clue what was happening to him and to his body.
The dog’s owner scooped him up and brought him back home. The dog wrote in the letter that he was happy that he didn’t have to deal with walking anymore at that point. He simply couldn’t do it. He was a mixture of overwhelmed, baffled and anxious.
An appointment with the veterinarian later confirmed that the sweet dog was indeed ill. Kidney failure, cancer and cardiomyopathy were all factors in the dog’s deterioration. Although this animal fell ill and suffered a lot, it’s clear as day that he had the most wonderful and attentive owner on this planet. This man truly cared for his pet.
