Most people aren’t too crazy about insects. Most people want to get rid of them as soon as they see them. That’s why exterminators get such good business everywhere. People generally are disturbed by insects. That’s why they often refer to them as “creepy crawlies.” Insects just don’t have the greatest reputations. Many insects are truly annoying. Some of them sting and eat wood, for example. There are also many insects, however, that are 100 percent innocuous. These insects have zero tendencies that revolve around harming human beings or other creatures. It’s important to note, however, that many insects are innocuous yet appear extremely frightening. One man learned that the hard way recently. He was in the comfort of his own home when he came across an insect that had an absolutely terrifying appearance. It was a scorpionfly. People may assume that scorpionflies aim to sting people and ultimately kill them. That’s actually nowhere near the truth, though. These insects are in reality pretty innocuous. People should know that there are certain things about them that can be rather unsettling, too, though.
Scorpionflies absolutely adore the flesh of human beings. They actually can’t survive without it. The consume the corpses of human beings. They even rely on the corpses for their egg laying purposes, interestingly enough. This is an extremely common occurrence in the state of Texas. It’s actually so common that forensic investigators who work in the state search for Scorpionfly eggs inside of corpses. This can help them more easily figure out when specifically the individual may have passed away. Yes, it’s definitely more than a little creepy that people can figure out death times based on assessing the presence of insect eggs.
No one’s going to deny that scorpionflies are far from the most dangerous insects in the world. There are plenty significantly more dangerous insects lurking out there (much to most peoples’ dismay). Examples of some of these serious insect hazards include kissing bugs, killer bees, wasps, mosquitoes, locusts and Asian hornets. Scorpionflies are definitely nothing like these insects. These insects are definitely the kind you should run away from quickly. That’s not to say that you want to linger around scorpionflies for too long, however, although it may not be in your control. Scorpionflies are so scary visually that they may make all of your reasoning and logic fly out of the window rapidly. They just look ominous. They fly around and scare the living daylights out of people on a regular basis. There are certainly many advantages to living in the state of Texas, but the frequent presence of scorpionflies definitely isn’t one of them. No one is going to really disagree with that. These insects’ yellow and black wings, for example, are a bit eerie and odd in appearance. They’re nothing like bees, either.
It’s pretty impressive that scorpionflies are able to inspire awe and fear in fully grown men. Although these insects are small, their visuals are beyond powerful. If you ever want to scare someone in a big way, you may want to find a way to introduce him or her to a scorpionfly. Of course, you’d have to be around the scorpionfly yourself which isn’t exactly a pleasant thought. If you ever need to get revenge on someone in your household for eating the last chocolate bar you had saved for yourself, showing the culprit a scorpionfly may make a suitable form of retaliation.
Scorpionflies aren’t really all that scary. That’s not the full truth, though. These things really couldn’t look more intimidating and horrifying. They truly remind people of horror films!
