Eugene Finney considers himself to be very lucky to be attacked by a shark. In fact, that shark attack may actually have saved his life. Finney was vacationing in California with his girlfriend and children. He felt something him in the back. He became disoriented, but managed to make his way back to shore.
Finney was not sure what had hit him, but his daughter pointed out that he had blood gushing out of his back. The lifeguards began telling people to get out of the water because shark fins had been spotted. That was when he had realized that he had been attacked by a shark.
Finney suffered severe back pain. The pain was so intense that he was not able to sleep. Finney’s supervisor heard that he had been attacked by a shark and told him to go to the doctor. When Finney arrived at the hospital, he learned that the shark attack was not his only problem.
The doctors ran a series of test and found that Finney had kidney cancer. Fortunately, Finney has stage 1 kidney cancer, so his prognosis is good. Finney considers himself to be lucky because his grandmother died from stomach cancer, which began in her kidneys.
Finney has undergone surgery and is now cancer-free. He believes that the shark attack saved his life.
